COMMENTS AND CRITIQUE

Kurier, Wien 1995
... der Solist Michail Arkadiev spielte ausser brilliant und virtuos auch mit packender Agresssivitaet.

San Francisco Chronicle, 1993
The pianist Mikhail Arkadiev was remarkable, technically abovs reproach and, most important, catching the subtleties, playng the spirit of the singing and the distinctive different musical light the piano cast on the interpretation.

New York Times, 1993
... the simphonic and sophisticated piano by Mikhail Arkadiev.

New York Times, 1998
Mr. Arkadiev  proved an exemplary collaborator. He seemed at first too deferential in the earlist numbers, by Caccini and Cesti, but his little, flowering lutelike excrescences around the voice put in relief his skill at laying down just the right carpet of sound for the early Baroque. He took a stronger part later, as appropriate, and became a full and potent partner in the Sviridov.

The Press (Cristchurch, New Zealnd), 1996
Mikhail Arkadiev is a pianist of such striking individuality that comparison with others, the stock in trade of the critic, becomes impossible.
... J.S. Bach “Goldberg Variations” were marked by such extremes, with incredible virtuosity underpinning the whole performance.
... “Vers la flamme”(Skriabin) reaching an exultant and convincingclimax, the “Sonata No.5” likewise combining poetry with extraordinary power and brilliance.
... Arkadiev was a most singular performer, playng right from the heart to an extent the few could match and with technical skill to spare. From time to time this was too much of a good thing, placing these two concerts squarely amongst the most memorable of the year.

Kultur, Wien,1999
Ein Paradefall eines Tastentigers: Mikhail Arkadiev, 41, Pianist aus Moskau, S fiihrte mit den Wiener Symphonikern und I Vladimir Fedosejew furs Musikfest im Konzerthaus Franz Liszts „Totentanz" auf. Und fasrinierte das Publikum mit einem Furioso schillernder romantischer Fàãbåï und drohnender Klangeruptionen. Arkadiev sturzt sich ohne Netz ins Klangabenteuer. Mit stahlhartem Anschlag hammert er Liszts Dies-irae-Vision in den Flugel;
und animiert die hervorragend studierten Symphoniker zu scharfen Ausritten.

KULTURA, Moscow, 2000
The conducting of Maestro Arkadiev was remarkable and powerful… In Mahler’s  Kindertotenlieder we heard the real postromantic  atmosphere.. Rossini’s tempos was impetuous…
Leoncavallos Prologo with Dmitri Hvorostovsky was the exceptional finale of all recital…

ZVEZDA , Perm, 1999
When do you look last time the crying people during the performance of Traviata? It was yesterday, it was Maestro
Arkadiev…

New York Times, 2001 By PAUL GRIFFITHS
…It also gave Mr. Arkadiev a chance to sing. He is indeed an exceptionally tender and sensitive pianist, with a fine feeling for songful phrasing and resonant tone.
